History and lore

In history and lore: Kunz recorded that Italian peasants of his day believed pebbles of green serpentine guarded against the bites of venomous creatures, and that the stone, laid on a bite, was supposed to draw out the poison. An Assyrian text from Assur, which Budge cited in 1930, promised 'blessing and blessing' to a man who carried a seal of green serpentine.
