Kammererite is the rare chromium rich variety of clinochlore, a chlorite mineral, and its magenta to violet crystals are found in chromite mines, most famously the Kop Krom mine in Erzurum, Turkey. The name honors August Alexander Kämmerer, a nineteenth century Russian mining official.
