History and lore
In history and lore: Kunz records that in the fourth century jasper was credited with driving away evil spirits and guarding its wearers from the bites of venomous creatures, and that a German writer of the eleventh or twelfth century advised laying it on a snake bite, for the stone was believed to draw the poison out of the wound. The Egyptians, as Wallis Budge recorded in 1930, associated red jasper with the blood of Isis.
