History and lore
In history and lore: Kunz records that malachite worn as an amulet was believed to avert attacks of faintness, and that the stone, powdered and taken in milk, was once said to have 'cured cardiac pains and colic.' In an Egyptian papyrus of about the fifteenth century B.C., malachite was one of three stones strung as curative beads for a sick child. This was a historical practice only; malachite dust is toxic and the stone should never be ingested.
