Summary

Garnierite, sold in shops as Green Moonstone, is not a moonstone or a feldspar at all but a soft, apple green nickel ore, a mix of nickel rich serpentine and clay minerals named for the French geologist Jules Garnier, who found it in New Caledonia in the 1860s. The trade name comes from its gentle glow and its soothing feel in the hand. In crystal tradition it fills the energetic body with the etheric energies of light, love and compassion. It allows the user to delve into the ‘dark’ side of love and process or release old wounds that might be present. It is used to help ease the effects of deep emotional strain and gives the user peace of mind. It supports a sense of overall vitality.

Garnierite is soft and sometimes crumbly, so keep it dry, wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it apart from harder stones. Wash your hands after handling raw pieces and keep it out of elixirs. Cleanse with smoke, sound or moonlight.
