History and lore
In history and lore: The thirteenth-century Arab mineralogist al-Tifashi wrote that the cat's-eye guarded whoever carried it from the glances of evil persons and from malign spirits, and that its bearer's wealth never diminished. A 1672 account by Baldaeus, quoted in Hobson-Jobson, recorded that some Indians believed a man who wore the stone kept power and riches that never diminished but always increased.
