In history and lore: Morganite is pink beryl, and Kunz recorded old lore of beryl as a whole: about 1220 Arnoldus Saxo reported that the wearer was 'rendered unconquerable and at the same time amiable.' An old German translation of Thomas de Cantimpre also stated that the beryl brought back the love of married people.

About the sources

  • George Frederick Kunz (1856 to 1932), Tiffany & Co.'s chief gemologist and author of The Curious Lore of Precious Stones (1913) and The Magic of Jewels and Charms (1915).
  • Arnoldus Saxo, a writer on the virtues of stones about 1220, who drew on Marbodus (Kunz).
  • Thomas de Cantimpre (1201 to 1270), a pupil of Albertus Magnus, whose De rerum natura, written between 1230 and 1244, was translated into German by Konrad von Megenberg about 1350 (Kunz).
