Crystal Grids
A single crystal on your nightstand is lovely. A crystal grid is something more: a small arrangement of stones laid out in a sacred pattern and dedicated to one intention. Each stone adds its own energy, and the pattern gathers them together so they work as one. It is part art and part ritual, and it keeps what you are calling in right where you can see it and feel it.
What is a crystal grid?
A crystal grid is a group of crystals set out in a geometric pattern, usually on a base plate or cloth, and built around a single intention. Its shapes come from sacred geometry, the circles, triangles and spirals that people in many cultures have held sacred for as long as anyone has drawn. When you lay stones on those lines, you are working with patterns that have carried meaning for a very long time.
Think of a grid as an intention you can see. Every stone you place is a small decision, and the finished pattern keeps that energy steady and present in your space, a daily reminder of what you chose.
The parts of a grid
- The base. The plate, board or cloth that holds the pattern. Selenite plates are a favorite, since selenite is loved for keeping the energy of a space clear and bright, and many are engraved with a sacred geometry pattern such as the Flower of Life. About the Flower of Life
- The center stone. The anchor of the grid, placed in the middle. Many of us use a selenite tower, a quartz point or a sphere here, a stone that holds the heart of the intention.
- The rays. Stones set evenly around the center, often clear quartz points with their tips turned outward to send the intention out into the world, or inward to draw it toward you.
- The intention stones. The stones you choose for what you are calling in, placed in the spaces between the rays.
- Your words. Many people write the intention on a slip of paper and tuck it under the center stone.
Common layouts
- The circle. Stones in one or more rings around the center. Simple, balanced and a lovely first grid.
- The six-point star. Six stones around the center, set like the petals of the Seed of Life. This fits most hexagon and Flower of Life plates. About the Seed of Life
- The triangle. Three points around the center, a classic choice when an intention has three parts (mind, heart and home, for example).
- The spiral. Stones winding out from the center, a favorite for growth or for something you want to unfold in its own time. About the Golden Ratio
- Following the plate. If your plate is engraved, let its lines show you where the stones go: one at each place where circles cross, or one in each petal.
How to build your grid
- Choose your intention. Keep it simple and specific, and say it as if it is already true: "My home is calm and kind."
- Find its home. Somewhere you will see it every day: a desk, a nightstand, an altar, a windowsill out of direct sun.
- Cleanse your stones, in whatever way you like best. Many of us use sound, smoke or a night on a selenite plate.
- Set the base and place your center stone.
- Lay the rays around the center, evenly spaced.
- Add your intention stones one at a time, saying your intention as you place each one.
- Activate the grid. When the last stone is down, trace the pattern once with a finger or a quartz point, joining the stones, and say the intention one more time. Many people feel the grid come alive in that moment.
Then visit it often. Sit with it, touch the center stone, say your intention again. A grid you tend is a grid that keeps working with you.
Caring for your grid
- Selenite is soft and does not like water. Dust it with a dry, soft cloth and keep it away from damp places.
- Some stones fade in strong sunlight (amethyst, rose quartz and fluorite among them), so a spot out of direct sun is kindest.
- When your intention shifts or comes true, take the grid down, thank it, cleanse the stones and build a new one. Grids are meant to change with you.
Choosing stones by intention
Our Crystal Grid Sets are built around four intentions. Each set gives you a selenite plate engraved with sacred geometry, a mini selenite tower for the center, mini Lemurian seed quartz points for the rays, and tumbled stones chosen for the theme.
- Calm: Lepidolite and Amazonite, two soft, gentle favorites for slowing down and letting the day settle.
- Clarity: Sodalite and Blue Aventurine, stones we reach for when we want a clear mind and confident choices.
- Protection: Gold Sheen Obsidian and Shungite, grounding stones many of us keep close for a sense of safety.
- Abundance: Moss and Tree Agate with Green Aventurine, long loved for growth and good fortune.
